Welcome to TechKit (techkit.cloud). We review tools and software so you can pick the right ones. This page explains, in plain English, what information we collect, why, and what choices you have.
The short version: we collect as little as we can, we don’t run ads, and we never sell your data.
What we collect
Information you give us. If you leave a comment, we collect the name, email address, and (optionally) website you enter, plus the comment itself. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to send.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our server and security tools see basic technical details when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, device, the pages you view, and the time of your visit. We use this to keep the site running, secure, and fast.
Cookies
Cookies are small files your browser stores. We use only a few:
- Essential cookies that help the site work and stay secure (for example, from Cloudflare).
- Comment cookies (optional) that remember your name and email so you don’t have to retype them next time.
- Third-party cookies from affiliate partners when you click their links (see below).
If we add analytics later (see below), it may also set cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site will still work, though some features may not.
Tools and third parties we use
To run TechKit, we rely on a few trusted services:
- Hosting (VPS): Our WordPress site runs on a virtual private server, which stores site data and server logs.
- Cloudflare: A content delivery and security network that speeds up the site and blocks attacks. It processes visitor IP addresses and technical data.
- LiteSpeed Cache: A caching plugin that makes pages load faster. It doesn’t track you personally.
- Rank Math SEO: Helps us optimise content for search engines.
- Google Search Console: Gives us aggregated data on how the site appears in Google search. It doesn’t identify individual visitors.
- Anti-spam plugin: Comments may be checked by an anti-spam service to filter out spam. This may involve processing your comment, IP address, and email.
Possible future additions. We may later add Google Analytics to understand overall traffic, and an email newsletter. If we do, we’ll update this policy to explain what’s collected. Newsletters would be strictly opt-in, and you could unsubscribe at any time.
Each of these services has its own privacy policy, and we encourage you to read them.
Affiliate links
Some links on TechKit are affiliate links (for example, to Systeme.io). If you click one and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. When you click, the partner may set its own cookies to track the referral. We don’t control those cookies, and the partner’s privacy policy applies. Affiliate relationships never decide our opinions in reviews.
Comments
Comments are public. Your name, comment, and website (if given) appear on the site, but your email address is never published. We keep comments indefinitely so conversations stay intact, unless you ask us to remove them.
How we use your information
We use information only to run and improve the site, respond to you, moderate comments, prevent spam and abuse, and meet legal requirements. We don’t sell, rent, or trade your personal data, and we don’t show ads.
Your rights
Wherever you live, we respect your privacy. Depending on your location (for example, under the EU/UK GDPR or California’s CCPA), you may have the right to:
- Ask what personal data we hold about you
- Get a copy of it
- Correct anything inaccurate
- Ask us to delete it, including your comments
- Object to or limit certain uses
- Not be discriminated against for using these rights
To make a request, email us at daveclaw0@gmail.com. We’ll respond within a reasonable time, usually within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity first.
How long we keep data
We keep personal data only as long as we need it for the reasons above. Server and security logs are kept for a limited time. Comments stay until you ask us to remove them.
Children
TechKit is not aimed at children under 16, and we don’t knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has shared personal information with us, contact us and we’ll delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site changes, for example if we add analytics or a newsletter. When we do, we’ll change the “Last updated” date at the top. Major changes will be clearly noted.
